JOURNEY PARTNER WITH 'EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION'
by Amy Sciarretto - Ultimate Classic Rock

We've heard of Christmas in July, but at a recent Journey tour stop, it was like Christmas in August. The band partnered up with the popular television show 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' to run a holiday gift drive at their show earlier this month in Columbus, Ohio.

Neal Schon and company asked fans attending the Aug. 5 concert to bring new and unwrapped gifts for a holiday gift drive that the producers of 'Extreme Makeover' were working on. The presents were for the children in the American Addition neighborhood of Columbus, as well as for underprivileged and needy youth in the city.

The 'Makeover' producers were in town to do what they do best, helping a needy and deserving local family build a new home. Journey's busy travel schedule obviously prevents them from rolling up their sleeves, strapping on tool belts and physically helping to refurbish a house.

But, they're generous souls, and they did their part to assist a charitable endeavor in one of their summer tour markets. (Editor's note: maybe they just couldn't stand being near that guy with the megaphone?)

What a cool and easy way for Neal Schon, Ross Valory and the rest of the band to get involved and lend a hand for a good cause. Journey: Rock with a conscience.
