September 28, 2009 - Live In Manila DVD - Available Now!
Journey's Live In Manila two-DVD set was released October 2, 2009. Filmed with RED technology, which utilizes special 4K high-definition cameras with a resolution exceeding 35mm film that gives the footage an extra dynamic quality, the DVD captures Journey's historic concert in Manila, Philippines. Performing more than two hours worth of classic favorites, as well as new hits from the band's latest album, Revelation, Live In Manila documents the triumphant homecoming of the band's singer Arnel Pineda.

The Live In Manila DVD, like Revelation, is being sold exclusively at Walmart in North America.

I stayed up late last night to watch both DVD's. I couldn't stop watching. In fact, I am watching the whole thing again as I am typing now! Arnel's voice remained powerful from start to finish. His story remains an inspiration to all, and to sing in front of our "kababayans" back home was truly magical. Both audio and video were crystal-clear!! This DVD set is an instant classic!! Do I hear Grammy?

Deen, as always, was awesome on drums and vocals. Ross' bass riffs are spell-binding. I truly loved Neil's guitar solos. He is a true genius! What can I say about Jonathan except he truly is a master keyboard player and songwriter! The band obviously looked proud, as they should with what they've accomplished for the past 30 years, and especially with Revelation! They truly enjoy playing their music...and what awesome music they are!! I've been a fan since 1977, and I will never get tired of Journey's stuff. Rock on, Journey!

I really had to purchase two copies from Wal-Mart the other day since it's a pretty darn good deal so why not. The production is truly topnotch. State-of-the art video/audio technology at it's best that I consider a milestone in DVD concert format. The packaging is eccentrically cool. I only wish they had taken the opportunity to place more information about the band's new direction with their newest member, Arnel. The playlist is a killer - a mix of the old and the new. The new tracks from "Revelation" sounded so much better live. The classics were played with added new improvisations - now that's rockin'! The band was tight in every song except that I caught one error on "Keep on Running" but they were quick to nudge it right away. Well, nobody's perfect. Most of the audience were, well, somewhat not too fussy in showing their excitement during the concert but who cares! They seem to look like they're enjoying themselves in a different kinda way though. Neil is truly a guitar virtuoso. The licks and, oh lordy, the riffs are splurges of ultrasonic bliss. Ross' bass lines are overpoweringly thunderous to the point of making your heart palpitate (if you happen to have a good sound system, check it out). Deen's drumming is par excellence per se. He's one of those rare breed that can actually play and sing (what a voice, I almost mistook him for SP) altogether and the first one I ever seen did this is Phil Collins of Genesis. Jon is by far an element of exquisite keyboard wizardry and maestro extraordinaire on putting up songs for the band. The keyboard and synth playing is sophisticated. No over-the-board gimmickry and showmanship. Arnel is the fourth singer (including Fleischman) who have worn the Journey mantle. A lot of critics are saying that his voice is just enhanced with overdubbing. Well, sad to say, folks, the man is true to his pipes. I've seen him belch it out at PNC Arts and Borgata, Atlantic City here in the 'ol state of Jersey (that's Joisey for you, pal). Read my lips, the man can sing. He has that defining ability not to sound like SP or SA with the new Revelation songs. What matters most is that voice that defines Journey. You can ramble for all you want. It's all about the continuum of the Journey legacy. This is what Journey is all about. This is what progressive AOR is all about. Overall, I'd give this 2-disc DVD set a five star rating.***** Peace!

I got my copy of the DVD just today after a long wait.
I watched it and it was wonderful. I can feel the emotions Arnel conveyed in their songs. I hope the
DVD will be available in local stores here in Japan.
Millions of their fans will be very happy to buy
their copies.*
